2018 Registration and Rules

Where is the tournament?

At various rinks in Central Ottawa (see 'Arenas' page) with
most semi-finals and finals taking place at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre and the Fred Barrett (Leitrim) Arenas.

Where and what is District B?

HEO Minor District B was formed thru the amalgamation of Districts 6, 7 & 8. The tournament is hosted by all 5 house league associations in District B - West End, Southend, Canterbury, Ottawa Centre, and Ottawa East (collectively known as the BMHL - the Bytown Minor Hockey League).

When is the tournament and what levels are included this year?

April 6 to April 8, 2018 - Initiation B, Novice A/B/C, Atom A/B/C, Peewee A/B/C, Bantam A/B/C Midget A/B, Juvenile

How much is the tournament?

$600.00 for all divisions.  Online payment (preferred) or by cheque.

How many games do we get and what is the format?

We run an A/B side style event with a 2 game minimum, up to 5 games possible in the larger divisions. All teams that get to a final get individual player medals, a team trophy and 1 player is chosen as an “Outstanding Player” and receives a plaque.  Initiation B is a round robin without a final round. Divisions with less than 8 teams play a round robin.

Is this a tiered event?

Yes. Teams in HEO Minor District B play in a fully tiered house league with A, B and C levels. See full explanation in official rules.

Who chooses the “Outstanding Player”?

The coaching staff selects a player for its own team at the end of the final game. The reason we keep putting “Outstanding Player” in quotations is because we really look at this as a contributor’s award. It might not be the highest scorer or best player per se, but the one whose overall contribution got the team to the finals.

Can we use affiliated players?

Only in special circumstances as permitted, please see the full official rules for further information.

What is Roger Neilson House and how much have you raised?

Roger Neilson House is a Palliative and Respite Care facility for children located on the grounds of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). This event has raised over $281,000.00 since the announcement of the creation of Roger Neilson House in 2003.

What is required for registration?

Complete the online registration form and pay the fee online or by mailing a cheque (not post dated). After December 1st, we will begin sending email confirmations of acceptance. If you are not accepted, online payment will be reversed or cheque will not be cashed. Wait lists will be created if/as necessary.
